When we were growing up

This lunchtime I decided I'd have a toasted cheese sandwich... Then I suddenly remembered how you always made me cheese toasties when Kieron and I were younger. You'd sneak tomato in so we had something that resembled veg and then let us put a dollop of ketchup on the side as you warned us to be careful as we ate as it was very hot! I'm missing you so much right now and don't want to forget little things like this; how you looked after us when we small, put us in our places if we were naughty, offered advice when things didn't go to plan, listen patiently to us and always be there if we needed a hug. Sitting together with a cup of tea and a biscuit or slice of your lemon drizzle cake, was one of my favourite things to do as we'd talk about various things all afternoon. I loved wandering around the supermarkets, garden centres and other shops with you, and our trips to the Toby carvery that you loved. To be honest I have so many stories and happy memories is hard to write them all at once. So for now, I'm going to eat my toastie, complete with tomato slices and watch I don't burn my mouth! Xxxxx
